Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors Places Crew in the top 20 at USRowing Youth Nationals

This past weekend the Tulsa Rowing Club competed in the USRowing Youth Nationals in Cincinnati, OH. Ten members of the Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors represented the club in the women’s junior eight category in the fastest youth regatta in the US Rowing calendar and placed 20th. The members of the crew were as follows.

The Tulsa crew defeated boats from Denver, Colorado and Oak Ridge, TN and placed in top twenty crews in the country.
“These young ladies have worked exceptionally hard to be able to have the opportunity to compete at this event, I was pleased with their result and it bodes well for the club’s future at this competition”, said Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors Head Coach Neil Bergenroth.
The club seeks to grow over the next six months to develop the sport in the state of Oklahoma. The next learn to row program will be offered on August 10th, 2009. The Program Goals for Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors are:
• Teach proper rowing technique and race against other junior crews
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment into every practice and race
• Establish TRCJ as a nationally competitive program through participating in regional and national level regattas
• Challenge athletes in physical training to achieve maximum development and performance
• Provide programming which puts athletes in good standing for rowing scholarships at colleges and universities.
