Neil Bergenroth
– Head Coach Tulsa Juniors Rowing
The summer camp head coach is Neil Bergenroth (Coach B). Coach B started
rowing 20 years ago in London, England as a student at Kingston Grammar
School. At the age of 17 he represented Great Britain on the 1992 Junior
National Team. He continued his athletic rowing career at Boston University
competing at the NCAA Division I level for four years. Since graduating from
college, Coach B has been involved with coaching juniors rowing for 10 years.
Previous to moving to Tulsa he was assistant coach at a boarding school in
Connecticut where he helped build the program at the school to be one of the
premier rowing schools in New England. Coach B has been involved with the Tulsa
Juniors Rowing program since the summer of 2002.
James Simmons
- Assistant Coach Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors
Coach Simmons has been involved with Tulsa Rowing Club for over five
years. Originally from Salt Lake he arrived in Tulsa 9 years ago. Not only is
he an accomplished coach, but his mechanical skills are vital to the success of
the Tulsa Juniors Rowing Program. Long after the athletes have left the
boathouse he can be found fixing boats and maintaining the coaches launches.
Coach Simmons is in his third year with Tulsa Juniors Rowing.
Girls Novice Head Coach - Sara Younger (Coach Y)
Sara Younger joined the Tulsa Rowing Club in May 2007 after
completing the Masters Learn to Row program. In August 2008 she joined the
Juniors coaching staff as the Novice Girls head coach. In 2008 she attended
Craftsbury Sculling Center in Vermont and this year acquired her Level 1
USRowing Coaching Certificate. She has also attended the Masters Coaching Sweep
clinic in Boston. Currently she competes with members of the Tulsa Rowing Club
Masters program and receives individual training from online coach and trainer
Marlene Royle. In her first year of coaching she led her girls to win medals in
every regatta attended while acquiring Gold in the 4+ and Silver in the 8+ at
Central Districts Championship Regatta in Austin, Texas this past May.
“Congratulations on your team's results. Two medals is a big deal. I
have no doubt you are a really perceptive coach.”

“I continue to be impressed with your coaching of your team. I think
that
they are rowing very well and arguably better than I have seen any novice
girls row since I joined the program 6 and a half years ago.
Neil Bergenroth; Head Coach Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors
“How do I even begin? Coach Y is hard, tough and extremely demanding,
but she is also the best coach I have ever had! She taught me to push myself
further than I ever thought possible. I just thought rowing was going to be
something to help pass the time during my senior year. Her passion for this
sport was passed along to the entire Novice Crew! Thanks Coach Y.”
